For the sugarcane crushing season 2025–26, New Swadeshi Sugar Mills has stated its complete preparedness and performed the traditional Roller Puja, a significant religious ritual that symbolizes the start of the sugar production process.
The ceremony took place on Thursday amid the chanting of Vedic mantras and full religious rituals. The puja was conducted by the mill’s priest, Acharya Radheshyam Chaturvedi, who led the prayers for the smooth functioning of the rollers, an essential part of the sugar mill machinery used to extract juice from sugarcane.
Roller Puja is a customary and spiritual practice performed annually before the start of the crushing season. It is considered a sacred tradition that reflects the mill management’s readiness and commitment to the upcoming operational period. The ritual is aimed at invoking divine blessings for the safety and efficiency of the equipment, and to ensure a trouble-free production cycle.
The ceremony also holds symbolic importance for the sugarcane farmers, reaffirming the mill’s dedication to timely crushing and fair compensation for their produce.
Following the puja, preparations for the crushing season officially commenced. The event saw the presence of several senior officials and dignitaries, including Executive Chairman Ravindra Kumar Tiwari, EVP Rajeev Tyagi, VP Engineering Jitendra Kumar, VP Production Vivek Dixit, HR Head Naveen Tiwari, Sudhir Mishra, Vineet Chauhan, and Santosh Singh. All participants offered prayers for a successful and smooth crushing season.
The Roller Puja is deeply rooted in tradition and is seen not just as a religious activity but as a cultural marker of the sugar industry’s seasonal rhythm. It reflects the unity and dedication of the management and workforce towards efficient operations and farmer welfare.
