The sugar industry is under financial pressure following a fall in sugar prices, leading the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) to seek immediate support from the central government. The Federation has called for the minimum selling price of sugar to be fixed at ₹41 per kilogram and for an increase in ethanol procurement prices to help sugar mills manage their finances, reports Newsonair.gov.in.
The Federation has submitted a formal request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, and Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi, highlighting the difficulties being faced by sugar mills due to lower revenues.
