NFCSF to honour top performing sugar factories at National Efficiency Awards ceremony in New Delhi

The National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) will host its annual National Efficiency Awards ceremony on July 3 in New Delhi, honoring cooperative sugar factories for exemplary performance in various domains such as technological advancement, financial management, cane crushing capacity, and sugar recovery efficiency.

As the apex body representing 260 cooperative sugar mills and nine state-level sugar federations across the country, the NFCSF conducts these awards to promote excellence and encourage competitive innovation within the sector.

Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, will attend the ceremony as Chief Guest. Also gracing the occasion as Guests of Honour will be Nimuben Bambhaniya, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Suresh Prabhu, former Union Minister and current Chancellor of Rishihood University.

Several key dignitaries from sugar-producing states are expected at the event, including Arvind Kumar Sharma, Cooperation Minister of Haryana; Shivanand Patil, Karnataka’s Sugarcane Minister; Babasaheb Patil, Maharashtra’s Cooperation Minister; and Laxmi Narayan Choudhary, Uttar Pradesh’s Sugarcane Development Minister. The award function will be held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in the capital.

For the 2023–24 edition, a total of 25 awards were determined after a detailed evaluation by a panel of experts. NFCSF President Harshvardhan Patil and Managing Director Prakash Naiknavare had earlier announced the list of recipients.

Maharashtra emerged as the frontrunner this year, securing 10 awards. Tamil Nadu followed with five, Uttar Pradesh with four, and Gujarat with three. Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh each received one award. This year’s competition saw participation from 103 cooperative sugar factories from across the country.
