Hapur: An embezzlement of ₹7.09 crore has come to light in the Sugarcane Committee of Hapur. The District Cane Officer has submitted an investigation report to District Magistrate (DM) Abhishek Pandey. In response, a four-member inquiry team has been formed under the leadership of SDM Ankit Verma to conduct a detailed investigation. The team is expected to submit its report within 15 days, as per Dainik Bhaskar.
DM Abhishek Pandey has directed the registration of an FIR against accountant Bharat, his wife and sister, along with the sugarcane secretary and the manager of IDBI Bank. He has also ordered departmental action for the suspension of all government employees found involved. The investigation revealed the involvement of both bank and committee officials in tampering with the savings account of the committee.
The cane department’s investigation team examined records for two hours at the IDBI Bank branch located on Garh Road and collected hundreds of vouchers as part of the inquiry.
The DM stated that preliminary findings indicate that all the accused were involved in the scam. To ensure a thorough investigation, a four-member team under the SDM has been tasked with submitting a report in 15 days. Disciplinary action, including suspension, will be taken against the government employees found guilty.
