Panipat cooperative sugar mill leads Haryana in cane crushing and power generation

Panipat (Haryana): Panipat cooperative sugar mill has recorded the highest sugarcane crushing among government-run mills in Haryana this season. The crushing season began on November 28, and by Tuesday the mill had crushed 17.29 lakh quintals of sugarcane, more than any of the state’s 10 cooperative sugar mills and the HAFED sugar mill at Assandh, reported Dainik Tribune.

The mill is operating at its full daily capacity. Along with sugar production, it is also generating electricity through a 28 MW turbine, which is currently running at 25 MW. Of this, 8 MW is used for the mill’s own operations, while the remaining 17 MW is supplied to the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam through the Naultha power house.

The management said that by 6 am on Tuesday, the mill had sold 1.23 crore units of electricity to the state power utility. So far, electricity sales have earned the mill Rs 7.80 crore, and a target of Rs 30 crore has been set for the current season.

Power generation turbines are installed at sugar mills in Panipat, Rohtak, Karnal and Shahabad. Among these four mills, Panipat has sold the highest amount of electricity so far. The Panipat cooperative sugar mill currently ranks first in capacity utilisation among all 11 government-run sugar mills in Haryana.
