Panipat: Sugar mill sets target of crushing 65 lakh quintals sugarcane

Panipat (Haryana): Preparations for the new crushing season have begun at the Dahar village based sugar mill, with a target of crushing 65 lakh quintals of sugarcane and generating electricity worth around Rs. 30 crore, reported Amar Ujala.

On Friday, the Co-operative Sugar Mill began assembling machinery after performing a havan ceremony. Managing Director Sandeep Kumar, Israna SDM Navdeep Singh Nain, and CAO Kailash Chandra took part in the ritual.

MD Sandeep Kumar said the mill has a daily crushing capacity of 50,000 quintals. For the new season, the machinery that had been dismantled for repairs is now being reassembled. He added that the mill aims to crush 65 lakh quintals of sugarcane this season.

In addition, the 28 MW turbine installed at the mill is expected to generate electricity worth Rs. 30 crore, which will be sold to the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN).

Chief Engineer Rajkumar, Chief Chemist B.S. Hooda, Accounts Officer Yashpal, Deputy Chief Engineer Ravi Mann, and Deputy Chief Chemist Amrish were also present on the occasion.
