Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farming in Pilibhit district is undergoing a transformation, as farmers turn to modern techniques that are proving both effective and profitable. Traditional methods are rapidly being replaced by innovative practices such as the trench method and intercropping, allowing farmers to increase their income, reported Live Hindustan.
A major development is the adoption of drone technology for spraying pesticides and fertilizers. With the help of drones, farmers can now treat entire fields quickly and efficiently, without the need for large numbers of workers.
Several sugar mills in the district, including LH Sugar Mill in Pilibhit, Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mills in Puranpur and Bisalpur, and Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Mill in Barkhera, are connected with lakhs of farmers and are supporting this shift toward more profitable farming.
Farmers are being encouraged to adopt drone technology, which is helping them carry out field operations with precision and on time. “Using drones has made spraying so much easier. It saves time and effort,” said a local farmer.
Pradeep Agnihotri, Secretary of the Cooperative Cane Development Committee, said, “IFFCO has made three drones available in the district, and farmers can rent them easily.” District Cane Officer Khushiram added, “Farmers are getting better results now. Every task is being completed more accurately and on schedule.”
With reduced labor needs and higher efficiency, drone technology is making sugarcane farming easier and more rewarding for farmers across the district.
