Uttar Pradesh: Plan to begin expansion of Morna sugar mill soon

Morna: Veena Kumari Meena, Principal Secretary of the Sugarcane Development, Sugar Industry, and Excise Department, said that the expansion of Morna Cooperative sugar mill will commence shortly. She said the government is committed to addressing the long-pending demand of local farmers, and steps will be taken to resolve their issues effectively, reported Amar Ujala.

Meena held a meeting with officials of the Sugarcane Department at The Ganga Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mill, Morna, to review the mill’s management, crushing capacity, infrastructure requirements, and the challenges faced by sugarcane growers.

District Magistrate Umesh Mishra, Deputy Cane Commissioner Omprakash Singh, DCO Sanjay Sisodia, and Morna mill Manager Vijay Prakash Pandey participated in the meeting. Local representatives, including RLD Mandal President Prabhat Tomar, Dr. Amit Thakran, Vidit Malik, and Vikas Sahrawat, emphasized the urgent need for the mill’s expansion.

After the meeting, Principal Secretary Meena and DM Mishra visited Bhagwat Peeth Shri Shukdev Ashram, where they paid tribute at the memorial temple of Saint Veetrag Swami Kalyandev Maharaj and honored his spiritual contributions. They also toured the Swami Kalyandev Museum.

Swami Omanand Maharaj, head of the Peeth, presented Meena with religious literature, a shawl, sacred offerings, and a special edition published by the postal department featuring the Shuktirth pilgrimage site.

Swami Omanand mentioned that farmers had been demanding the expansion of the Morna mill for the past two decades. Meena assured that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is taking the matter seriously, and preparations to begin the expansion work are already underway.

Other dignitaries present at the event included SDM Monalisa Johri, Katha Vyas Achal Krishna Shastri, Acharya Suman Shastri, Deepak Mishra, Acharya Arun, and Thakur Prasad Singh.
