New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday used Instagram to share a simple public health message, urging people to reduce sugar intake and focus on staying fit, The Times of India reported.
The message came in response to a short reel posted by Yuvraj Dua, in which he had requested the Prime Minister to advise his father to cut down on sugar. Responding to the post, Modi said the advice should not be limited to Dua’s family but extended to “everyone else out there.”
Dua’s video highlighted how everyday choices at home can affect long-term health. Building on this, the Prime Minister pointed to the risks linked to excessive sugar consumption, noting its connection with several diseases and the rising problem of obesity.
He also encouraged people to include yoga in their daily routine, describing it as an effective way to remain healthy and active.
The message is in line with the government’s wider focus on preventive healthcare, which promotes changes in diet and physical activity to address non-communicable diseases. With cases of obesity and diabetes increasing steadily in the country, the Prime Minister’s outreach on social media reinforces the importance of small, practical steps in daily life.
The tone of the message remained simple and direct, urging people to eat healthy, stay active, and be mindful of sugar intake.
