Kushinagar: Triveni’s Ramkola sugar mill, known for making timely sugarcane payments, has transferred nearly Rs. 69 crore to farmers’ bank accounts so far, reported Live Hindustan.
The mill has already paid Rs. 23.30 crore for sugarcane crushed up to December 10, with the amount credited directly to farmers’ accounts. According to the mill management, crushing operations have progressed steadily this season.
Principal General Manager Yashraj Singh said the mill had crushed about 24.67 lakh quintals of sugarcane up to December 23. Against this volume, payments amounting to Rs. 68.66 crore for sugarcane crushed up to December 10 have been released to farmers.
He said the mill considers farmers and the factory as mutually dependent and follows a policy of paying farmers for their sugarcane well before the deadline fixed by the government. He added that the mill has been successful in maintaining this practice for several years.
During the current crushing season, the mill has completed payment of Rs. 23.30 crore for sugarcane purchased between December 1 and December 10.
The management has urged farmers to supply fresh and clean sugarcane to ensure smooth crushing operations. Farmers have also been encouraged to supply their sugarcane directly to the mill, as this would help increase their basic quota and provide greater benefits in the coming years.
Factory Manager Manvendra Rai, Cane Manager Indra Kumar Sharma, and other officials were present during the interaction.
