Rs 36.14 lakh fraud case filed over fake maize supply deal

Lucknow: A case of fraud amounting to Rs 36.14 lakh has been registered at Ashiyana police station in Lucknow over a fake maize supply deal. Raghu R. Nair, a resident of Uttam Nagar, New Delhi, and an employee of LB Ethanol Pvt. Ltd., based in Chennai filed a complaint in this regard, reported Amar Ujala.

According to Raghu, in July 2024, two individuals named Manjunath and Siddhalingesh Uppin introduced him to Shyam Singh, who claimed to be the owner of one firm. The company was paid Rs 36.14 lakh for the supply of 2,600 tons of maize. However, upon inspection at the warehouse, only 100 tons of maize were found.

Investigations later showed that no railway booking had been made for transporting the maize as claimed. When Raghu asked Shyam Singh for a refund, he was allegedly threatened.

Following the incident, Raghu submitted a formal complaint to the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) against Shyam Singh, Manjunath, and Siddhalingesh Uppin.

Inspector Chatrapal Singh confirmed that an investigation into the matter is currently underway.
