Indian benchmark indices gave up early gains, with the Sensex slipping over 500 points and the Nifty closing below 25,650 on February 4.
The Sensex ended 503.76 points lower at 83,313.93, while the Nifty closed 133.20 points down at 25,642.80.
Hindalco, Eternal, Bharti Airtel, BEL and ITC were the top losers, while Trent, Max Healthcare, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Grasim were the top gainers.
The Indian rupee ended 0.1% higher at 90.35 per dollar on Thursday, compared with the previous close of 90.43.
On Wednesday, the Sensex ended at 83,817.69, while the Nifty settled at 25,776.
