Sensex ends 296 points lower, Nifty below 24,800

Indian benchmark indices ended on a negative note on July 31.

Sensex ended 296.28 points lower at 81,185.58, whereas Nifty concluded 86.70 points down at 24,768.35.

HUL, Jio Financial, Eternal, JSW Steel, ITC were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Adani Enterprises, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Adani Ports, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma.

Indian rupee ended lower by 18 paise at 87.60 per dollar on Thursday versus Wednesday’s close of 87.42.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 143.91 points higher at 81,481.86, whereas Nifty concluded 33.95 points up at 24,855.05.
