Sensex ends 367 points lower, Nifty below 26,050

Indian equity indices ended lower in the volatile session on December 26.

Sensex ended 367.25 points lower at 85,041.45, whereas Nifty concluded 99.80 points down at 26,042.30.

On the Sensex, Titan gained 2.19 per cent, while NTPC, UltraTech Cement, Axis Bank, Hindustan Unilever and Reliance Industries also closed marginally higher. On the downside, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints, TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and Sun Pharma were among the major laggards. IT stocks saw notable pressure, with the Nifty IT index falling 1.05 per cent.

Indian rupee ended lower at 89.78 per dollar on Wednesday against previous close of 89.66.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 116.14 points lower at 85,408.70, whereas Nifty concluded 35.05 points down at 26,142.10.
