Indian equity indices ended on strong note with Nifty above 26,300 on January 2.
Sensex ended 573.41 points higher at 85,762.01, whereas Nifty concluded 182.00 points up at 26,328.55.
Coal India, NTPC, Hindalco, Trent, Jio Financial were among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers were ITC, Nestle, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Shriram Finance.
Indian rupee ended lower at 90.19 per dollar on Friday against Thursday’s close of 89.96.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 32 points lower at 85,168, whereas Nifty concluded 17 points up at 26,146.
