Indian equity indices ended lower on May 22.
Sensex ended 644.64 points lower at 80,951.99, whereas Nifty concluded 203.75 points down at 24,609.70.
All major sectoral indices ended in the red, with Auto, IT, and FMCG being the worst hit. Auto laggards included M&M, Tata Motors, Maruti, Ashok Leyland, and Exide Industries, all slipping over 1%.
A few stocks managed to stay afloat. In the Sensex-30 pack, only IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, UltraTech Cement, managed to close in the green.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 410.19 points up at 81,596.63, whereas Nifty concluded 129.55 points up at 24,813.45.
