Sensex ends 676 points higher, Nifty above 24,850 on likely GST reforms

Indian equity markets rallied on Monday, driven by optimism over the government’s proposed GST reforms, aiming to support economic growth in the country.

Sensex ended 676.09 points higher at 81,273.75, whereas Nifty concluded 245.65 points up at 24,876.95.

Maruti Suzuki, Nestle, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Auto were among biggest gainers on the Nifty, while losers were ITC, Tech Mahindra, Eternal, L&T, NTPC.

Indian rupee ended 21 paise higher at 87.35 per dollar on Monday versus Thursday’s close of 87.56.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 57.75 points higher at 80,597.66, whereas Nifty concluded 11.95 points up at 24,631.30.
