Indian equity markets closed higher on Wednesday, marking their second consecutive day of gains amid easing geopolitical tensions and falling crude oil prices.
Sensex ended 700.40 points higher at 82,755.51, whereas Nifty concluded 200.40 points up at 25,244.75.
Titan Company, Infosys, M&M, Grasim Industries, JSW Steel were among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Bharat Electronics, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Eicher Motors, Axis Bank, ONGC.
All the sectoral indices ended in the green with auto, consumer durables, IT, telecom, healthcare, media up 1-2 percent.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 158.32 points higher at 82,055.11, whereas Nifty concluded 72.45 points up at 25,044.35.
Indian rupee ended lower at 86.09 per dollar on Wednesday versus Tuesday’s close of 85.98.
