Indian benchmark indices ended lower on September 26 Nifty below 24,700.
Sensex ended 733.22 points lower at 80,426.46, whereas Nifty concluded 236.15 points down at 24,654.70.
The sell-off came after the United States announced a steep 100% tariff on imports of branded and patented pharmaceutical products, effective October 1.
IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma, M&M, Eternal, Tata Steel were among biggest losers on the Nifty, while gainers included L&T, Tata Motors, Eicher Motors, Reliance Industries, ITC.
Indian rupee ended marginally lower at 88.71 per dollar on Friday versus previous close of 88.67.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 555.95 points lower at 81,159.68, whereas Nifty concluded 166.05 points down at 24,890.85.
