Sensex ends 823 points lower, Nifty below 24,900

The markets closed sharply lower on Thursday, with the Nifty snapping its six-day gaining streak amid widespread selling pressure.

Sensex ended 823.16 points lower at 81,691.98, whereas Nifty concluded 253.20 points down at 24,888.20.

Biggest Nifty losers were Tata Motors, Shriram Finance, Trent, Titan Company, Coal India, while gainers were Apollo Hospitals, Dr Reddy’s Labs, Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra.

Indian rupee ended lower at 85.60 per dollar on Thursday versus Wednesday’s close of 85.51.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 123.43 points higher at 82,515, whereas Nifty concluded 37.15 points up at 25,141.
