Indian benchmark indices recovered on February 16, with the Sensex rising by 650 points and the Nifty gaining 211.65 points.
The Sensex closed at 83,277.15, while the Nifty ended the session at 25,682.75.
Top gainers on the Nifty included Power Grid Corporation of India, Coal India, HDFC Bank, Adani Enterprises and Axis Bank.
Stocks that ended lower included Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Maruti Suzuki, Eicher Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra.
The Indian rupee closed marginally lower at 90.65 against the US dollar, compared with the previous close of 90.64.
On the previous trading day, Friday, the Sensex had ended at 82,626.76, while the Nifty closed at 25,471.10.
