Shamli’s Upper Doab sugar mill completes full payment to farmers for 2024-25 crushing season

Shamli: Upper Doab Sugar Mill in Shamli, operated by the Triveni Group, has fulfilled its promise by completing the entire payment for sugarcane purchases made during the 2024–25 crushing season, including payments for burnt cane, reports Live Hindustan.

Speaking to the media on Friday at the mill premises, Unit Head Pradeep Kumar Salar confirmed that the mill had purchased a total of 85.84 lakh quintals of sugarcane this season, and ₹316.31 crore has been fully paid to the farmers and their respective cooperative societies by May 30.

With this, Shamli’s Upper Doab Sugar Mill has become the first sugar mill in the district to complete full payment for the current crushing season. Salar thanked all the farmers for their cooperation and urged them to cultivate high-yielding varieties of sugarcane on a larger scale.

He encouraged farmers to increase productivity not only in the main crop but also in the ratoon (first and second stubble crops). He also advised them to take full advantage of the sugarcane development programs being run by the mill’s sugarcane department to boost their earnings.

Salar further appealed to farmers to be present in their fields during the ongoing sugarcane survey, ensure accurate data collection, and increase their basic quota. He requested that all sugarcane in the next crushing season be supplied to their designated mill.

He also emphasized the importance of regular field inspections and protection against pests and diseases. He advised farmers to identify and remove red rot- and smut-infected cane and take measures to control pyrilla, scale insects, and top borer.

Chief General Manager (Cane) KPS Saroha, General Manager Satish Balyan, and Deepak Rana were also present on the occasion.
