Colombo: The Committee to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) will investigate the alleged sugar scam that took place in 2020, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala told Parliament on Tuesday, Daily Mirror Online reported.
The minister made the statement while responding to a question from Opposition MP Chaminda Wijesiri. He said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which had earlier looked into the matter, has now handed over the investigation to CIABOC.
Wijepala said the move follows the completion of the CID’s initial inquiry into the alleged scam.
