Prices of sugar in the domestic market have been increased by the Bangladesh Sugar Refiners Association.
The price of loose sugar has been increased by Tk5 per kg and packaged refined sugar has been increased by Tk4 per kg.
The press release published by the association on Thursday states that the new prices will be effective from February 1.
Considering the increase in the global market price of raw sugar and the increase in the dollar exchange rate and production cost, the price of unrefined sugar per kg has been set at Tk 107 and the price of packaged sugar has been set at Tk 112 as per the release.
The price of sugar was fixed at Tk 102 per kg and that of packaged sugar was fixed at Tk 108 in the open market on November 17.
