Uttarakhand: Sugarcane crushing season begins at Uttam Sugar’s Libberheri unit

Roorkee, Uttarakhand: The sugarcane crushing season at Uttam Sugar Mills, Libberheri, began on Wednesday with a traditional ceremony of havan, prayers, and chanting of mantras conducted by priest Shivam Sharma, reports Live Hindustan.

Following the rituals, Sushil Rathi, representative of the Chairman of the Libberheri Cane Society, inaugurated the crushing season by cutting the ribbon for the first weighing, after performing a symbolic worship of farmer Sunil Kumar Thithki’s bullock cart.

At the trolley weighing site, Vinod Kumar, Vice Chairman of the Libberhedi Cane Society, and State Sugarcane Minister Shyamveer Saini cut the ribbon to begin the weighing of farmer Jagpal Singh from Mannakhedi’s trolley, marking the formal start of the operations.

Senior Vice President of the sugar mill, L.S. Lamba, congratulated all farmers of the region on the commencement of the new crushing season.
