Dharmapuri: Sugarcane farmers who supplied their produce to the government-run cooperative sugar mill have received support price payments in their bank accounts, the district administration confirmed, reports The Hindu.
For the 2024–25 season, a total of 31,473.988 metric tonnes of sugarcane was procured from 861 farmers across the district. The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare had set the support price at ₹349 per tonne.
According to officials, a total of ₹1.09 crore was disbursed as support price for the procured cane. The amount has been credited directly to the farmers’ accounts, ensuring timely assistance to growers in the region.
