Sugarcane mechanisation scheme portal launched in Bihar

Patna: The Sugarcane Industry Minister, Krishnanandan Paswan, launched an online portal on Tuesday for receiving applications under the ‘Sugarcane Mechanisation Scheme’. The scheme, backed by a subsidy outlay of Rs 10 crore for the 2025–26 financial year, aims to cut cultivation costs and enhance farmers’ income.

With the help of modern agricultural machinery, farmers will be able to plant cane seeds at scientifically recommended distances. The scheme also encourages the use of advanced tools to control pests, diseases, and weeds.

Under the scheme, subsidies will be provided for machinery used throughout the sugarcane farming process—from land preparation to harvest management.

Interested farmers in the state can apply online through the department’s Cane Care portal at https://ccs.bihar.gov.in or https://sugarcanemech.bihar.gov.in using their 13-digit DBT number.

Each farmer can apply for a subsidy on up to three different agricultural machines, with separate applications required for each. A total of 33 types of machinery have been included for individual farmers, and there are provisions for three group-based equipment banks.

Applicants selected through a randomised online lottery must pay their contribution amount online, after deducting the subsidy, within 14 days of receiving the approval letter, and can then avail the machinery from vendors listed on the portal.
