Pilibhit: The state’s Sugarcane and Sugar Commissioner, Pramod Kumar Upadhyay, has directed district-level sugarcane officers to complete the ongoing sugarcane survey work by June 30 in preparation for the 2025–26 crushing season, reported Live Hindustan.
Currently, 95% of the survey work in the district has been completed. The GPS-based survey is being jointly conducted by the Sugarcane Development Department and sugar mills across the region, including LH Sugar Mill Pilibhit, Kisan Cooperative Sugar Mills in Puranpur and Bisalpur, and Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Mill in Barkhera. District sugarcane officers are responsible for supervising the survey process.
The survey is being carried out using handheld GPS-enabled computers. After the field work, the data is compiled into a computerised patrolling cane survey register, and the summary of the sugarcane area is finalized on the last page of the register.
District Cane Officer (DCO) Khushiram inspected the sugarcane survey in Jaunapur village along with mill staff. Present during the inspection were SCDI Rambhadra Dwivedi, LH Sugar Mill’s Sanoj Kumar, the circle in-charge, and local sugarcane farmers. The DCO confirmed that the remaining work would be completed within the next three days and the post-survey schedule has already been issued.
