The Tripura government will distribute sugar, semolina and refined flour free of cost to all beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) during the festive season, continuing a tradition from previous years. These items are essential for preparing sweets commonly made in households during Puja celebrations, reported Tripura Info.
According to an official statement, each PDS family will receive 500 grams of semolina (suji), 2 kilograms of refined flour (maida), and 1 kilogram of sugar. To cover all 9.90 lakh beneficiaries, the state has procured 1,982 metric tonnes of flour, 469 metric tonnes of semolina, and 990 metric tonnes of sugar.
The state government described the initiative as a festive gift, underlining its commitment to easing household expenses during Puja.
