Two farmers felicitated for record sugarcane yield

Yamunanagar: Two farmers from Saraswati Sugar Mills in Yamunanagar have been honoured for achieving record sugarcane yields using modern farming techniques. Rahul Baliyan from Bandi village and Rajinder Kumar from Bahadurpur village received recognition from the National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur, during its 90th Foundation Day celebration, reports The Tribune.

S.K. Sachdeva, Chief Executive of Saraswati Sugar Mills, said the NSI, established in 1935, plays a key role in promoting education, research, and training in the sugar industry. He added that the institute provides scientific and technical knowledge to students, engineers, technicians, and officials from India and abroad.

Sachdeva said it was a proud moment for Haryana and Saraswati Sugar Mills that local farmers were honoured at the national level. He congratulated the awardees and encouraged other farmers to adopt advanced sugarcane cultivation methods to boost productivity and income.

Senior Vice-President (Administration) D.P. Singh noted that over the past three years, Baliyan achieved an average yield of 1,350 quintals per hectare, while Kumar recorded 1,280 quintals per hectare.
