By January 1, 26 sugar factories that are members of the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine had processed 10.43 million tonnes of sugar beets since the start of the current season, producing 1.574 million tonnes of sugar, according to the association,
The association said the average sugar recovery has reached 15.19 per cent this season, compared to 14.16 per cent last year. This improvement has been attributed mainly to the higher sugar content in beets at the time of delivery, which stood at 17.63 per cent, up by 0.88 percentage points compared to 2024.
The association clarified that the overall figures do not include data from the Horokhiv Sugar Plant, as it is not a member of Ukrsugar and does not share regular operational updates on its processing activities.
It further stated that six sugar factories will continue processing sugar beets through January, and the crushing season is expected to conclude by January 20.
