UP Cane Commissioner directs mandatory solar power systems installation across all departmental offices

Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: In a push to strengthen energy self-reliance and reduce carbon emissions, Cane Commissioner Ministhy S has instructed all units of the sugarcane department to ensure the compulsory installation of solar power systems. The order covers departmental offices, cooperative cane societies, cane development councils, and sugar mills, reports The Times of India.

The decision was taken after a meeting held on Saturday evening in Lucknow between senior cane department officials and representatives of the Non-Conventional Energy Development Agency (NEDA).

Ministhy said the initiative is aimed at lowering dependence on the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation, cutting electricity costs, and supporting environmental balance. Solar systems will also be set up at sugarcane research institutes, hospitals, and degree colleges linked to the department. Regional officers have been directed to speed up the installation process.
