The crushing season at Aira sugar mill commenced on Friday with Vedic chants. MLA Vinod Shankar Awasthi and Alok Saxena, Executive Director/Unit Head of Govind Sugar Mill, inaugurated the season by placing sugarcane into the cane carrier. Farmers and vehicle drivers who delivered the first weighments were also honored on the occasion, reported Live Hindustan.
During a subsequent program, the Unit Head assured farmers that the mill would provide timely cane weighment slips, prompt payments, and other facilities. A large number of sugarcane farmers, along with mill officials and employees, were present on the occasion.
The event began with religious rituals, havan (sacred fire ceremony), and pooja at Govind sugar mill in Aira. After the pooja, MLA and other officials and dignitaries formally inaugurated the crushing season by placing sugarcane into the cane carrier. Prior to this, Unit Head Alok Saxena honored Jagpratap, a farmer from Pakapur who delivered the first weighment, by presenting him with a gift and performed a ritual to worship the oxen.
Speaking at a program organized in honor of the farmers, Unit Head Alok Saxena said, “Farmers are the backbone of the sugar industry. The mill stands with them at every step to safeguard their interests. Farmers can approach the concerned office to resolve any issues they face. The mill will make every effort to provide timely weighment slips and payments. Additionally, several schemes are available to encourage sugarcane cultivation, and farmers will continue to benefit from them regularly.”
He appealed to farmers to sow high-yielding and early-maturing varieties of sugarcane to maximize benefits. Saxena also mentioned that cultivators could take advantage of resources at the Jai Kisan Junction. Farmers can also test their soil at the soil testing laboratory established on the mill premises to enhance soil fertility.
He emphasized that collective cooperation would set new milestones in regional development and said that the mill management is continuously working towards this goal.
