Uttar Pradesh: Former MLA launches campaign to reopen Rasra sugar mill in Ballia

Ballia, Uttar Pradesh: Former BJP MLA Ram Iqbal Singh has launched a large-scale campaign to reopen the Rasra sugar mill in Ballia. Under the slogan “Save Farmers, Run the Sugar Mill,” he has so far visited more than 30 village councils across the district, reported Daily Bhaskar.

Speaking about the initiative, Singh said a meeting was held on February 28 to discuss the reopening of the mill. During this meeting, BJP workers shared ideas and strategies to push the issue forward. Later, on March 10, hundreds of farmers joined him in submitting a memorandum to the Ballia District Magistrate.

Singh also handed a demand letter addressed to the Chief Minister to the district’s in-charge minister, Dayashankar Mishra Dayalu, during his visit to Ballia. The minister has since forwarded the letter to the Chief Minister, who has issued instructions for action on the matter—a move Singh welcomed.

In addition, Singh sent a letter regarding the sugar mill to Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh. Over the past two days, signature drives have been held in several village councils, including Bheetukuna, Malap Harsenpur, Bauldi, Veer Chandraha, Rohna, Budhau, Naghar, Athilapura, and Khirauli.

These drives, held during local village meetings, have seen strong participation from farmers and rural residents.

Ram Iqbal Singh believes that reopening the mill will increase farmers’ income and contribute to the overall development of the district. He also noted that both former and current BJP representatives, along with party officials, have expressed their support for the campaign.
