Uttar Pradesh: New grain-based ethanol plant to be set up in Bijnor

Industries associated with agriculture are rapidly expanding in the district, and now a new ethanol plant will be established with an investment of Rs 100 crore. The project has already been approved, and the plant will produce ethanol using maize and broken rice as feedstocks. This initiative is expected to benefit local farmers and create employment opportunities for youth in the region.

Ethanol is emerging as a strong substitute for petrol. While sugar mills once relied solely on sugar production for revenue, they are now also focusing on ethanol production. Not just sugar mills, but other entrepreneurs are also entering the ethanol business.

One such project is being launched by Kuldeep Jain, proprietor of Mohan Petrochemical, who will establish a grain-based ethanol plant on Nagina Road at a cost of Rs 100 crore, reported Dainik Jagran.

Farmers in the district commonly practice intercropping, and combining maize cultivation with sugarcane is now being seen as a promising option. With the trench method, both crops can be grown simultaneously.

Amit Kumar Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Industries, said that the district has developed a favorable environment for industries, especially those linked to agriculture.
