Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Shamli district has once again claimed the top spot for sugarcane productivity in Uttar Pradesh. Based on crop cutting results, the district recorded an average yield of 1,023.16 quintals per hectare for the 2024–25 season, securing the top position in the state, reported Amar Ujala.
Muzaffarnagar stood second with an average yield of 945.16 quintals per hectare, followed by Meerut in third place with 923.84 quintals per hectare. While Shamli retained the top rank, it experienced a slight decline of 12.88 quintals per hectare compared to last year’s figures.
Shamli has held the number one position in sugarcane productivity for the past seven years. According to data from the Sugarcane Department, the district consistently achieved high yields due to the scientific methods adopted by local farmers.
District Sugarcane Officer Ranjit Singh Kushwaha congratulated the farmers and credited their hard work, dedication, and adoption of scientific farming practices for the achievement. “This accomplishment reflects the commitment of our farmers to modern, efficient agricultural techniques,” he said.
