Uttar Pradesh: Two men die while cleaning waste tanker at sugar mill

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Two men lost their lives after suffocating inside a waste tanker at sugar mill in Bijnor on Tuesday evening, reported The Times of India.

The victims were identified as Mukesh Pal, 25, a tractor driver from Sarkada Chakrajmalpur village, and his assistant Salman, 28, from Palla Wala village.

According to police, the tanker was carrying bio-compost from the mill’s chemical unit to its waste plant. The two men had entered the tanker for cleaning when they inhaled toxic fumes. There were no visible injuries on their bodies.

Bijnor Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jha confirmed the incident. He said officers rushed to the spot soon after the news broke. “Senior officials are at the site. We are in touch with the families, and the bodies are being taken to the district hospital for post-mortem,” he said.

As word of the deaths spread, villagers from nearby areas gathered at the mill and staged a protest. They refused to let authorities remove the bodies until late in the evening.

The families of the deceased have demanded a proper and fair investigation into the tragedy.
