Dehradun: Sugarcane farmers associated with four cooperative and public sector sugar mills in Uttarakhand can expect to receive their pending payments soon. The state government has sanctioned a loan of Rs. 92.14 crore for the Bajpur, Nadehi, Kichha, and Doiwala sugar mills to clear outstanding dues from the 2024-25 crushing season, reported Dainik Jagran.
The sanctioned amount has already been disbursed to the management of the respective mills. Recently, Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry Minister Saurabh Bahuguna had directed officials to take necessary steps to ensure the pending payments to sugarcane farmers at these mills were cleared.
Following these directives, the Commissioner of Sugarcane Development and Sugar Industry, Prakash Chandra Dumka, released the loan amount to the four sugar mills. According to the media report, the Bajpur sugar mill has received Rs. 25.98 crore, Nadehi Rs. 21.82 crore, Kichha Rs. 21.81 crore, and the Doiwala sugar mill has been allocated Rs. 22.53 crore.
Commissioner Dumka has instructed the General Managers and Executive Directors of all four sugar mills to prioritize the payment of sugarcane dues to farmers through the cooperative societies using the provided funds. He stated that this will not only ensure timely payment of sugarcane value to the farmers but also further encourage them for sugarcane production in the future.
