Uttarakhand: Iqbalpur sugar mill to begin crushing in early November

Jhabrera, Uttarakhand: Sugarcane crushing at the Laxmi sugar mill in Iqbalpur will begin in the first week of November this year, according to the mill’s general manager, Anil Tanwar, reported Live Hindustan.

Tanwar said that around Rs. 20 crore in pending cane payments from the previous season will be cleared before the start of crushing operations. He emphasized that delays in starting the mill cause losses not only to farmers but also to the mill owners.

The general manager added that most employees are currently working 12-hour shifts to prepare for the new season, and they are being given four hours of additional pay. One month’s salary has already been disbursed to employees, and the second month’s salary will be released within the next few days.

Tanwar also appealed to farmers to ensure timely supply of sugarcane to the mill so that crushing operations can proceed smoothly.
