As part of its drive toward full mechanization from sugarcane planting to harvesting, Wave Industries Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Laser Matik, has successfully developed an innovative Inter-Row Weeder with Deep Fertilizer Placement. The initiative aligns with the vision of Managing Director D. S. Bindra and is being guided by Vice President Manoj Singh. The new implement integrates weeding and intercultural operations with precision deep placement of fertilizer, offering a modern solution for efficient sugarcane cultivation, the officials said.
Ten machines were recently distributed at the company’s Bulandshahar Unit, in a ceremony led by Unit Head Shri R. S. Dhaka, in the presence of Assistant General Manager (Cane) Shri Ram Gopal Singh and other company officials.
Addressing the farmers, AGM Singh highlighted that the machine allows for precise and efficient fertilizer application, optimizing input use. Acting as a 2-in-1 solution, it eliminates the need for a separate urea deep applicator, ensuring no additional financial burden on growers.
The machine is able to perform weeding and intercultural operations simultaneously, while placing fertilizer about six inches below the sugarcane root zone. This enhances nutrient absorption, improves fertilizer-use efficiency, and supports better crop establishment, ultimately boosting productivity and promoting sustainable sugarcane farming.
