Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar on Thursday stated that he will look into the request made by his party colleague, Dhananjay Munde, to transfer the Gopinath Munde Sugarcane Cutting Labourers Corporation from the social justice department to the planning department.
Speaking to reporters during the launch of the ‘Mission Sathi’ program aimed at supporting sugarcane cutting labourers in Beed, Pawar mentioned that he would discuss the matter with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, and the social justice minister.
The social justice department is currently led by Sanjay Shirsat of the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, while the planning portfolio falls under Pawar’s responsibilities.
Pawar highlighted that Beed has the largest number of sugarcane cutting labourers and that the government is taking steps to integrate them into the development process. He noted that a corporation dedicated to Gopinath Munde had already been established, and efforts toward mechanization in sugarcane cutting are also underway, reported PTI.
Additionally, Pawar revealed plans to approach Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to initiate the Beed-Ahilyanagar train route on September 17, a date marked as Mukti Sangram Din, commemorating Marathwada’s liberation from the Hyderabad Nizam’s rule and its integration into Maharashtra.
