10 per cent ethanol blending saved over Rs 41,000 crore forex

New Delhi: India has saved over Rs 41,000 crore in the foreign exchange as we have achieved 10 per cent ethanol blending in petrol, said minister of state for environment, forest and climate change Ashwini Kumar Choubey.

He was speaking at an online event organised by auto industry body SIAM.

This has helped in benefitting farmers and increase their income.

“Now we plan to achieve 20% ethanol blending by 2025-26. This step will help in reducing the country’s fuel imports and carbon emissions,” minister further added.

India had set a target of 10% ethanol blending with petrol by November 2023 but it was achieved five months in advance in June this year.
