Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is at its final stage with the many mills shutting operations.
According to the sugar commissionerate, 13 sugar mills, including 12 from the Kolhapur region and one from Nagpur, have closed their operations till March 14, 2022.
A total of 197 sugar mills participated in the operations this season and have produced 1081.78 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1046.12 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.34 per cent.
