As many as 186 sugar mills in Maharashtra have so far participated in the cane crushing operations this season. According to the data released by the sugar commissionerate, the mills have produced 327.1 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 347.62 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.41 per cent till December 16, 2021.
Solapur division is leading in the state with 43 sugar mills participating in cane crushing operations. The mills have produced 71.36 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 83.95 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.50 per cent.
Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have recorded more than 10% of recovery rate during the ongoing crushing season. The mills in the Kolhapur division have produced 93.07 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 86.84 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.72 per cent.
