20 per cent ethanol blended petrol to be available at select petrol pumps soon

Petrol with 20 per cent ethanol blending may be available at select petrol pumps in the country soon, said Hardeep Singh Puri, Union minister for petroleum and natural gas.

Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that India achieved 10 per cent ethanol blending in petrol five months ahead of the set target.

Minister said, “With the same dedication we will be achieving the 20 per cent ethanol blending target soon.”

Talking at the ‘Leaders of Climate Change Management’ programme, minister said all of the government’s plans have “full emphasis on green sustainability.”

“Whether it is 10% ethanol blending already achieved or the target of 20% ethanol blending which was set for 2030, which we are going to do by 2025 or the fact that E20 petrol will start being available at our bunks on April 1, 2023, or even earlier,” he further added.

India has committed to achieving net-zero carbon neutrality by 2070.
