20 per cent increase in sugarcane crushing in Fiji

Fiji: Sugar mills from Fiji have witnessed an increase in the cane crushing by 20 per cent during this season as compared to the previous season. As per the data provided by the Fiji Sugar Corporation, three sugar mills from Fiji have crushed a total 452,327 tonnes of cane.

Graham Clark, Chief Executive, said, “The sugar mills have increased their performance by 15%. The stoppages have been also reduced by 48% this season.”

The country has witnessed a hike in sugar production by 8 per cent to 37,799 tonnes as compared with 2019. The increase in the sugarcane recovery from 11.9 to 12.4 has helped in increasing sugar output.
