Pune, Maharashtra: As many as 139 sugar mills from Maharashtra have begun sugarcane crushing for the season 2020-21. Till November 21, mills have crushed 115.2 lakh metric tonne sugarcane and produced 95.12 lakh quintal sugar.
According to the sugar commissionerate, maximum sugar mills that began operations are from Kolhapur division (31). Out of 139 sugar mills, 27 from Solapur division, 24 mills from Pune division, and 24 from Ahmadnagar, 19 from Aurangabad, 12 from Nanded and 2 from Amaravati division commenced the season.
