Pune: Seven sugar mills in the Kolhapur district have completed cane crushing operations. Except for the sugar mills from Amaravati and Nagpur district, the mills from other districts have commenced closing the operations.
According to the sugarcane commissionerate, 29 sugar mills in the Solapur division have stopped operations till March 11. At the same time, 7 sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have ended operations. Total 41 sugar mills in the state have stopped operations.
In the on-going crushing season, 37 sugar mills in the Kolhapur division and 41 sugar mills in the Solapur division have participated in crushing operations.
The sugar mills in the state have produced 918.55 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 886.52 lakh tonne cane till March 11 with a recovery rate of 10.36%.
