Maharashtra: 110 sugar mills end crushing operations

Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is in the last phase. 110 sugar mills in the state have closed their operations so far.

According to the Sugar commissionerate, a total of 188 sugar mills have participated in the ongoing crushing season and as of April 5, 2021, these mills have produced 1024.34 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 974.92 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery of 10.47%.

As per the commissionerate, total of 43 sugar mills from the Solapur division have stopped operations whereas 31 mills from Kolhapur, 13 mills from Nanded, 11 mills from Pune, 7 mills from Ahmednagar and 2 mills each from Aurangabad and Amravati have ended the season. One mill from Nagpur has stopped cane crushing operations.
