According to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), sugar production till 15th December, 2022 in the current 2022-23 SS is 82.1 lac tons, against 77.9 lac tons produced last year on 15th December 2021, i.e. higher by over 4 lac tons. Number of operating factories are also higher at 497 against 479 which operated last year on the corresponding date.
As per port information and market reports, about 45-50 lac tons of contracts for export of sugar have already been entered into so far. Out of that, about 6 lac tons of sugar have been physically exported out of the country upto 30th NovemberтАЩ22.
In addition to this, market reports suggest that another about 8 – 9 lac tons of sugar is in pipeline to be exported in the month of December,22, thereby total exports by the end of this month could be around 15 lac tons.
